Hi there,
Stumbled upon your blog while looking for lyrics of this qawwali. Thanks for posting these.

On a side note, I think the stanza below
"Hoo, Tut Ke Bikharna Mujhko Zarur Aata Hai
Varna Ibbadat Wala Ssarur Aata Hai
(Otherwise I know how to pray (ibadah) to you)"

Should read
Toot kar bikharana mujko zaroor aata hai,
Aur no ibbadat wala shaoor aata hai

(I'm fragile and fall apart quite easily and
don't have the skill (shaoor) of prayer -ibbadat)

Sajde Mein Rehne Do, Abb Kahin Na Jaunga
(Let me stay in prostration (sajdah),I will not go anywhere now

Hmmm... The song is all about 'a person' seeking God (metamorphically).

Hmmm...I read it over a few times and it's certainly possible but all the verses before that with words layaa and ayaa refer to a person so it would just seem odd if the metaphor all of a sudden transformed to referring to one of Allah's names. Allahu alam... I wonder if anyone has the official CD where the lyrics are printed?

I should listen again to see if it's two words sa tarr or one sattar....

I guess you are right. I had interpreted it as something describing a bright light ...as in 'And then he saw the light'.
Cause the last stanza says this -
-
Jab Tu Rubaru Aaya…
(When You appeared in full)
Jab Tu Rubaru Aaya Nazarein Na Mila Paya
(With Your presence, I could not look into Your Eyes [I shied away])
Sar Jhuka Ke Ek Pal Mein… Ooo
(With bowing head, in that moment…)
Sar Jhuka Ke Ek Pal Mein Mene Kya Nahi Paya
-
And wet is not 'wet in rain' but 'drenched in noor'
i.e. it was so bright that nothing else was visible.

...but then again, as you said only Prasoon knows better.

That's an interesting interpretation but i don't think it's sattar because the verses previous to that refer to a person 'jho bi' and then 'he' who came and did various things ie whoever came to You, lowered their head etc.... so the You is one entity and the person is the other entity aaya (came). also it doesn't really make sense Sattar aaya? and bheegta? wet not really befitting God I think when all the rest was talking about a person. Allahu alam. Someone needs to call this Prasoon and ask him ;)
