ALLAH says in Surat al-Baqara, 152:

"Remember Me and I will remember you." [2:152]

When your heart is dark as iron,
steadily polish yourself
that the heart may become a mirror,
a beautiful shine relecting from within.
Although iron is dark and dismal,
polishing clears the darkness away.

-Rumi, "Mathnawi",

 allahuakbar lailahaillah alhamdulillah akbar
The Prophet (Salla llahu alayhi wa ala alihi wa sahbihi wa sallam) said,
"Everything has its polish and the polish of hearts is dhikrullah."

Dhikr polishes the heart and is the source of the Divine breath that revives the dead spirits by filling them with the Blessings of Allah, decorating them with His Attributess, and bringing them from a state of heedlessness to the state of complete wakefulness. If we keep busy with Dhikrullah, happiness and peace will be granted to us. Dhikr is the key to happiness, the key to joy, and the key to Divine Love.

Narrated AbuHurayrah:
The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) used to say: "O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from four things: Knowledge which does not profit, a heart which is not submissive, a soul which has an insatiable appetite, and a supplication which is not heard."
