Sh. Muhammad Hassan: Egypt Bombings are Against Islam

Asalamualaikum wrt wb,

Regarding what I just heard about a bombing that took place near the Hussein Mosque, in Egypt:

No one who does this is acting as a Muslim.  No, I don’t say I know who did it, that is not my business, but I must explain the religious ruling.  This is not the action of a Muslim.

And even if it is a tourist place, foreigners, non-Muslims, it doesn’t matter.  No one does this is a Muslim, who knows his religion.

Oh Shaykh, didn’t you see what they did in Gaza?

No, non-believers are divided into 4 categories.  This is religion, this is our deen, it is not an emotional issue.  No, this is Deen, we have to refer to the Ulema, the Scholars.  It is Deen.

This is deen, we have rules and regulations in our religion, Yes, I have to correct these false ideas held by some of our youth.  By Allah, I say this out of love for my young brothers.

The non-Muslims fall into 4 categories:

1.   Harbi:   The attacking enemy that makes war and physically fights you, who kills you, in the name of anything, in this case the striving against them becomes fard ‘ayn on every person.  Yes, we resist, and the proof of this is the verse: “Those who fight you, then fight them.”

2.   Mu’aahad:  The one who has permission to enter our lands (for work, etc), or someone in a country that has a peace treaty with the Muslims, so it is not permissible for any Muslim to harm him, and break this agreement.  Imam Bukhari narrates that the Prophet, pbuh, said:  “Whoever kills a mu’aahad will not smell the scent of Paradise.”  It could be in our lands, or in his, as long as the treaty is valid.

3.   Musta’man:  The one who asked for permission to enter our lands (by obtaining a visa, such as tourists, journalists, etc), or anyone whom a Muslim has given his protection to.  He or she must be protected from any harm.
Um Hani came to the Prophet pbuh after the opening of Makkah, and she said “I have given so-and-so my protection.”  The Prophet, pbuh, said:  “We have given protection to the one whom you have given your protection, Oh Umm Hani.”

4.   Dhimmi:  A non-Muslim who lives in a Muslim land.  Such a person is protected.

I warn all Muslims to stay away from harming innocent blood.  The Prophet, pbuh said: “A person is safe in his religion as long as he doesn’t take innocent blood.”

Imam Bukhari narrates in his Tarikh, that the Prophet, pbuh, said: “Whoever grants security to a person, and then kills him, I absolve myself from him, even if the one killed is a non-Muslim.”

This is our religion, we are Muslims and we have no shyness in stating what the religion says.  I ask Allah to return us all to His religion.  May Allah grant security to Egypt and all the Muslim countries, and make them safe and secure.

And I seek refuge in Allah, and may peace and blessings be upon Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.

Be merciful to those on earth, and the One in the Heavens will be merciful to you.

I wonder if the "good Sheikh" ever criticized Egyptian government for its anti-Islam policies against fellow Muslims in Palestine, Lebanon and Iran?

I don't think so!!

Asalamualaikum wrt wb,

All praise be to Allah.

From the good character of a Muslim is to avoid backbiting and slandering, for these sins may cause a person to lose all his good deeds.

Do you know that the Prophet, pbuh, was asked about a woman who used to pray late at night and fast during the days, but she used to speak ill of her neighbors.  The Prophet Muhammad, pbuh, said: "She is in the Fire!"

Can you imagine, she is in the fire.  Not for lack of praying enough, or for shortcomings in religious acts, but because of using her tongue against a Muslim.  This is for one's neighbor, so what about letting one's tongue loose against a da'ee, a caller to Islam?

Then the Prophet, pbuh, was asked about a woman who didn't pray that much, or fast extensively, but she was kind to others and had good character.  The Prophet, pbuh, said: "She is in Paradise!"

I ask Allah to guide all Muslims to perfect their character, and give us all beautiful character.  May Allah save us from the evil of our tongues, anger, arrogance, deceit, rudeness, harshness, hard-heartedness, and all other vices of one's character that cancel out all of one's good deeds.

And Allah knows best.

Be merciful to those on earth, and the One in the Heavens will be merciful to you.
