Alhamdulillah the shock thing apparently reset his heart (who knew u could do that??!) and now it's in rhythm so everything is fine for now. They said that it doesn't fix it permanently and that people go back to arrythmia (sp?)
Sister Jannah, Assalamu Alaykum.
Glad to hear your dad is doing better.
I have no medical training whatsoever, just personal experience, so take this info or ignore it as you like:
I have SVT (supra ventricular tachycardia). My heart starts beating REAL fast (getting up around 200) sometimes and I have to go to the emergency room. There they give me some drug that stops my heart so it can "reboot". (really weird feeling by the way...) The doctor prescribed Lopressor (a beta blocker) for me. I was supposed to take it everyday for the rest of my life. Made me feel really lethargic. Didn't like it at all... Now I'm down to taking it once or twice a week because I found something better. It's called Nano-Magnesium. Here's the website you can get it: http://www.mag-i-cal.com/magnesium.htm
. I take this every morning before I eat anything. I haven't been to the emergency room for over two years now, alhamdulillah! Magnesium, I've been told, is good for heart function and the kind sold at this website is supposed to be "colloidal" and more easily absorbed by the body.
Like I said, I know nothing about medicine and not all that much about nutrition, so I don't know if any of the claims for "colloidal minerals" is true. All I know is that it works for me. My heart is doing so much better. You might want to look into this for your father. Do some research. Ask his doctor (although watch out, some doctors poo-poo the whole nutrition angle...) See what you can find out...
InShaAllah, your dad is doing well...
