Asalamaulaikum wrt wb,
All praise be to Allah.
Just a friendly reminder to our sisters (and brothers) that now is a good time to try to make up our missed Ramadan fasts, since Ramadan is only a few weeks away.
Answer to some questions:
It is too hot, do I have to fast?
What the scholars say, is that even if it is hot, one should fast. However, if it becomes too difficult, he can break his fast due to necessity, and make it up later.
I missed my fasting from last Ramadan, and I don't think I'll be able to make it up until after this Ramadan. Is that permissable?
According to the Shafii school, one must pay a fidya along with making up the fast if they delayed it beyond a whole year, without excuse.
According to the Hanafi school, there is no fidya, although in general, one must hasten to do their Faraaid and make them up since we never know when we will die.
When does Ramadan begin?
I believe it will begin around the 21st of August.
What is the ruling on moonsighting?
I don't get paid enough to answer this question. However, please, my brothers and sisters, do not create disputes over this issue. We are one Ummah. Unity is Fard, and let us work to unite the Ummah this Ramadan, and this is a question for the scholars and not the common person.
And Allah knows best.
