Ibrahim Bin Adham was asked as to why our dua’s do not get accepted even though Allah Ta`ala has said, “And ask of me; I shall grant you…”

So Ibrahim Bin Adham answered:

Your dua’s do not get answered because your hearts are dead.

They said, ‘why are our hearts dead?’

He answered, because of 8 things….

1- You know the rights of Allah upon you but you do not fulfill them.

2- You read the Qur’an but you do not act on its commandments.

3- You claim that you love the Prophet (may peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) but you don’t follow his way.

4- You say we fear death, but you don’t prepare for it.

5- Allah says, “Indeed shaytan is your enemy, so take him as your enemy…” but you obey him in committing sins and disobeying Allah.

6- You claim that you fear the hell fire but you have thrown yourselves therein.

7- You claim that you love paradise but you don’t make an effort for it.

8- When you get up from your beds in the morning, you throw your deficiencies behind your backs and involve yourselves with other peoples’ faults.

Thus you have angered your Lord, so why would He answer your prayers?

only allah know why.

there are a lot of sincere muslims out there making dua and praying fervently.  i don't think they fall into any of those categories.

perhaps, the answer is often: its just not time yet....

That is true. Duas not answered could be for a million reasons. We often do not know the wisdom of why it wasn't answered either, it's not necessarily a response to something else, but I think it's good to have some self-reflection at all points in life and think about what we may be doing wrong.

Asalamualaikum wrt wb,

All praise be to Allah.

Dear Jannah, it is important to follow the scholars, and not someone's ideas and philosophies.  This way we will find true happiness and success in this world and the next.  We need to stick to the words of the scholars, which are filled with blessings and light.

Sincerity is not the only condition for having one's dua fulfilled.  From the most important conditions, is obedience, following the Sunnah, correct Aqeedah, avoiding consuming haram, kindness to one's parents, and doing good deeds.  These are some of the lessons we learn from the hadith regarding the 3 who were stuck in the cave, when they made tawassul to Allah by their good deeds done sincerely for Allah alone.

And the same time, we cannot say that our duas are not answered, for every dua is answered by Allah, either through removing a calamity, granting something equivalent, or saving the reward in order for it to be given on the Day of Judgment.

And Allah knows best.

Be merciful to those on earth, and the One in the Heavens will be merciful to you.

I strongly appreciate those 8 reasons for which our Duas don't get accepted. And why should it be?Are we doing the things right for what we have been sent for?No is the answer. So when we can't give something then we can't also expect to get something. The point is straightforward. We need to follow and put deep concern on the above mentioned points and if we could do them only then we can expect something good.May Allah bless us all.
