Muslim girl topper in Medical Entrance Test

Imphal, June 22 2009: For the first time in the history of Manipur, a girl student from the Muslim community has come out as the topper in the MBBS/BDS entrance examination held yesterday under the supervision of Directorate of Health Services, Manipur.
Salma Begum Wangmayum, an OBC (MP), is the first in the combined list of merit of MBBS/BDS entrance examination in which 3241 students of all categories appeared.
Salma Begum secured a total of 364 marks.
The top seven candidates in the combined merit list are all OBCs.
The first candidate of general category comes in the seventh position in the combined merit list.
What is noteworthy in the merit list is that there are eight Muslim students, four girls and four boys in the combined merit list upto 100 .
The category-wise selection and waiting list will be drawn up later on the basis of merit after receiving total seats of MBBS and BDS , informed the Directorate of Health Services, Manipur.
