Not sure what to think of this. Identity and culture are good, but when it's bringing out Islam through those other cultural, artistic means, not those other means destroying Islam....

Asalamuaalikum wrt wb,

All praise be to Allah.

The scholars of all four Madhahab concur that musical instruments are forbidden in Islam, since the Prophet peace be upon him said:

"There will be those from my Ummah who will make permissible alcohol, fornication, and musical instruments."

The fact that the Prophet alhayhi asalaam placed musical instruments in the same category as fornication and alcohol is a clear proof that they are haram.

Furthermore, by stating, "There are those that will make permissible..." means that there must have been a previous impermissibility, which these later people will violate.

There are others who have produced beautiful songs without these evil instruments and harmful lyrics, such as Dawud Wharnsby Ali and Native Deen.

May Allah guide our youth to follow the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him.

And Allah knows best.

Be merciful to those on earth, and the One in the Heavens will be merciful to you.
