This is like seriously funny. Strange dawah...............J.

==============================

A group of party girls got more than they bargained for when they were recruited to attend a posh do in Rome on Sunday night.

Instead of canapés and cocktails, the 200 young women found themselves being encouraged to become Muslims.

It turned out the host was Libya's leader, Col Muammar Gaddafi, in town for the UN food summit.

He spoke of the wonders of Islam and assured his guests it was not anti-women, as some critics argue.

The selection process had been rigorous; the identity of the host, a mystery.

The girls had to be beautiful, between 18 and 35 - and at least 1.70m tall.

The dress code was strict: plunging necklines and short miniskirts were most definitely out.

Two-hundred women passed muster and were bussed to a plush residential corner of the Italian capital.

Security scanned and shown into an imposing reception room, they were then left waiting, as several complained, without so much as a glass of water.

An hour later, their host's identity was finally revealed.

Col Gaddafi proceeded to preach the benefits of Islam, taking particular pains to assure his guests that it was not misogynistic, and encouraging them to convert.

Two hours later, the women left, looking a touch bemused, 50 euros ($75; £45) better off and clutching a copy of the Koran.

They should do that more often Tongue

I believe in Islam like the sun rising, not because I see it but because by it, I see everything else.

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Pretty cool though. Intention, of course, counts for a lot in Islam. Whether they listened or not, it was done with good intentions.

It's funny, its kind of sweet actually, and Gaddafi is portrayed as rather eccentric anyway in media here. It's done no harm I think.

But goodness me these girls put themselves in the most scary positions, they had no idea what to expect, who they were seeing, where they were going, anything, they just turned up and allowed themselves ot be whisked away somewhere, it goes against everything I've been taught to do since childhood!!!!

Eccentric or not, I always liked the Guy (Gaddafi)!  He's got style!

The Almighty Allah says,

"When a servant thinks of Me, I am near.
When he invokes Me, I am with him.
If he reflects on Me in secret, I reply in secret,
And if he acknowledges Me in an assembly,
I acknowledge him in a far superior assembly."

Italian hostess accepts Colonel Gaddafi's Islam plea

Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's appeal to hundreds of glamorous Italian hostesses to renounce Catholicism and convert to Islam has fallen on fertile ground after some of his guests agreed to consider becoming Muslims.

Alda Ribeiro: Italian hostess accepts Colonel Gaddafi's Islam plea

Alda Ribeiro: A graduate who speaks five languages, including Portuguese and Italian, Miss Ribeiro said that since receiving a free Koran after the meeting at the Libyan ambassador's residence in Rome she had been studying its teachings.

Of the 400 young women who were asked to two events hosted by the Libyan leader in Rome this week, a few said they were interested in travelling to Tripoli or even Mecca to consider becoming Muslims.

"The meeting with Muammar Gaddafi has changed me," said one of the women, Alda Ribeiro, 27.

"Islam used to frighten me, now it fascinates me. I don't know how my mum will take it – her name's Maria de Lourdes, so you get the idea that she is a staunch Catholic," she told the newspaper Corriere della Sera.

"For me, Islam was always associated with the concept of the submission of women. The other evening there was fear among the girls that we would all end up in a harem," added Miss Ribeiro, whose family is originally from the former Portuguese colony of Sao Tome and Principe, off the coast of West Africa.

Col Gaddafi was in Rome for the UN World Food Summit but devoted much of his attention to two soirees on Sunday and Monday at which he subjected the women to a lecture on Islam, the failings of Christianity and his view that sexism is rampant in the West.

The girls were recruited from a Rome agency, Hostessweb, which provides attractive women for corporate functions.

They are known in Italy as hostesses and the word carries no sexual connotation and they are not escorts.

The agency stipulated that they must be at least 5ft 7in tall, between 18 and 35 years old and soberly dressed. Each girl was paid 50 euros (£44) as a "tip" for attending the events.

A graduate who speaks five languages, including Portuguese and Italian, Miss Ribeiro said that since receiving a free Koran after the meeting at the Libyan ambassador's residence in Rome she had been studying its teachings.

"Would I convert? I certainly think that the Catholic Church today is too caught up in itself. I only go to mass when my grandmother comes to Rome.

"I asked Gaddafi what he thought of the role of women and he replied that he had always been a supporter of women's rights. I hadn't expected that.

"That's why I decided to accept his invitation. I'm going to go to Libya. I want to understand, to see with my own eyes. Then I will decide."

Right so they were worried they'd '...end up in a hrem' so why did these girls attend then?

I'm still in utter shock over the lack of personal safety awareness (or whatever you want to call it), I mean, goodness this is ridiculous, you have no idea where you're going, or what's going to happen, but you go along anyway!!!!

Eccentric, is not a bad thing imvh. It's sort of benignly nuts!

Do agree this is dawah.

The insane ones are the girls without a care for thier personal safety.......

What gets me is what would of happened if he hosted party like Silvio Berlusconi? The media would be all over him for creating an Italian Harem! Now that he is preaching about goodness, the media is protraying him as a eccentric?

So either way your screwed...

Colonel Gaddafi hosts second gathering of glamorous Italian women
The Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi has hosted a second evening event in Rome to which he invited 200 beautiful Italian women.

They were under orders not to show too much leg or cleavage. But a strict dress code for 200 glamorous young Italian women appeared to have slipped somewhat when they were entertained for a second time by Libya's eccentric leader, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.

Many of the women were photographed turning up for the unusual soiree on Monday night wearing tight black leather mini-skirts, high heels and tops with plunging necklines.

The dress code had relaxed considerably since Sunday, when another group of 200 Italian girls were invited to a reception by the Libyan leader, who is in Rome for the UN World Food Summit.

For that occasion, they were told by the modelling agency that recruited them not to wear jeans, see-through or suggestive clothing or skirts above the knee.

Col Gaddafi again used the agency, Hostessweb, to hand-pick a fresh batch of 200 women - each paid 60 euros (£53) - and have them brought by bus to the Libyan ambassador's residence.

Each was given a copy of the Koran. But unlike on Monday night, when the first group of girls sat through a meandering discourse on Islam, sexism in the West and Col Gaddafi's belief that the crucifixion of Jesus was fraudulent, this time he permitted the women to ask him questions.

He struck an uncharacteristically discreet note when asked by one of his glamorous guests what he thought of the notorious pool parties hosted by the Italian prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi, at his villa in Sardinia.

Photographs of topless young women lounging by the pool and taking outdoor showers at Mr Berlusconi's luxury retreat on the Costa Smeralda made international headlines when they were appeared earlier this year.

Confronted with the question, Col Gaddafi reportedly smiled and said "Sssh", putting his fingers to his lips and refusing to be drawn on the subject.

He was also asked what he thought of Italy being condemned by the European Court of Human Rights for displaying crucifixes in schools.

"The important thing is not to put religion into the state. In Libya we don't oblige anyone to hang a crescent on the wall, although those who want to can," he was quoted as saying.

Repeating an appeal he made on Monday evening, he urged the girls to convert to Islam and offered to help them travel to Mecca on pilgrimage if they did so.

Earlier in the day, Gaddafi attended the food summit at the headquarters of the Food and Agricultural Organisation but then went on a walkabout in Rome, surrounded by 30 bodyguards and minders, some in traditional Arab dress.

To the amazement of bystanders he dropped into a cafe in a historic piazza in the city centre and ordered a cappuccino and a glass of water.

Col Gaddafi was due to host a third soiree on Tuesday night but he cancelled the event and left Rome for Tripoli.
