ASAK
lol...because i am afraid of killing myself...

From Islam Q&A:

What is the ruling on women wearing high heels?

Praise be to Allaah.

Wearing high heels is not permissible because it exposes women to the risk of falling, and we are commanded in sharee’ah to avoid danger in a general sense, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And do not kill yourselves”

[al-Nisa’ 4:29]

“and do not throw yourselves into destruction”

[al-Baqarah 2:195]

It also makes women look taller than they really are and makes their posteriors appear more prominent, and this is a kind of deception and showing the adornments which the believing woman is forbidden to show, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“and not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent (like both eyes for necessity to see the way, or outer palms of hands or one eye or dress like veil, gloves, headcover, apron), and to draw their veils all over Juyoobihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms) and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband’s fathers, or their sons, or their husband’s sons, or their brothers or their brother’s sons, or their sister’s sons, or their (Muslim) women (i.e. their sisters in Islam)” [al-Noor 24:31]

From Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah, Majallat al-Buhooth, 9/46.

Moreover, it also makes a woman lean forward (maa’ilah ila al-amaam), so there is the fear that the warning issued to those women who walk with an enticing gait (al-maa’ilaat al-mumilaat) may apply to her too [in the hadeeth which says that such women will never even smell the fragrance of Paradise from afar]. It also harms the back, as has been proven medically. The heels also make a sound which attracts the attention of men and is a temptation to them. We ask Allaah to keep us all safe and sound.

I don't wear shoes that might kill me, or make me fall over, I do wear heels to be taller, but then it's nice to be able to see more than knees (other peoples) all the time.
It has always been comfort and function over fashion for me.....even when I wasn't old!!!

Wassalaam

I like heels because they are elegant and sophisticated... I won't be killing myself anytime soon because I can walk in them just fine, Alhamdulillah Smiley

I'm sorry... but this fatwa is one of those things I just don't get about Islamic scholars.

Frankly, we should stop going out, staying in, even breathing, if "danger in the general sense" is the criterion to go by.

Wow

Shouldn't scholars be scared to say something is not allowed ...I would think it would have been better if he said Makroor.. (not recommended) or given others opinions on it..

What I want to know is why it's always women who can't do anything, mens clothing clearly won't kill them, but wait, what about thobe's??? What if a man tripped over his thobe and killed himself...could happen as much as a pair of heels could kill a woman...

Hmmmm ... Death by high heels? Death by thobe? How about death by niqab?

Clearly some garments are not suitable for certain activities.   Sad

Muslim woman strangled by her burkha in freak go-kart accident

By Richard Shears (Mail Online)

A young Muslim woman had died after her burkha became snagged in a go-kart.

The 24-year-old woman, who has not yet been named, died a terrifying death today when a fluttering part of her burkha became caught in the wheels of a go-kart she was driving near the town of  Port Stephens, north of Sydney ...

If ALLAH (S.W.T.) wanted all women to be size zero

Why I don't wear high heels...
1) they hurt
2)YOU CANNOT LOOK GOOD COVERED IN DIRT AFTER FALLING IN THE STREET!!!!
I know this from personal experience; not long ago I was in Rawalpindi with my husband. He had decided to take me out for dinner on Chandni Chowk, so I decided to wear my beautiful black Jubbah with silver trim andmatching hijb, my silver handbag and KILLER SKYSCRAPER HEELS. We had just left the restaurant, with my beloved husband by my side talking about random stuff. All of sudden however, I wasn't there. I was on the floor. COVERED IN DUST.
Embarrased much?

Since then, flat shoes only (partly because of work though lol)

See this is why when you're walking along with your husband you link arms with him, so if you stumble he catches you and straightens you before you hit the floor....poor you, hope you werent hurt.

Interesting... Luckily I don't wear heels because I find them uncomfortable..... I prefer the ballet flats even in the middle of winter... But I can say, before I was practicing, I would wear heals to make myself appear taller and more attractive... even thought it was painful, pathetic huh? fez
