Prophet's Love : Should be our nature (poem)

You are the hive
Beauty in you stored

You are sky
Mercy in your clouds

You are the Sun
Light from you radiates

You are the Rain
The joy of plants

You are the heart
In lovers you beat

You are the eye
For all of us to see

You are the life
For us to live

You are the hope
For sinners to cope

You are the dream
The fortune of our sleep

You are the prize
To win in our race

You are the Rose
This world your nightingale

You are the Nucleus
Lord commanded to orbit

You are the drink
For the lost and thirsty

You are the thread
To reach the Lord

You are the kite
Who soars over all saints

You are the flame
Angels the moth

You are the Beloved
Lord, your lover

You are my tears
Trickling in my joy

How can I even start
The thought of your love-stop

My veins are accustomed
With your ecstasy obsessed

In my blood is dissolved
Like-wine I have adored

Distance from your love
I become a beast, so-low

Closer to you I approach
Even Lord is in my reach

I am left with no choice
Only you make me rejoice

O Mustafa.
Your love is my nature
Without it have I no future

Moments without your praise
Is nothing short of an offence

Lack of actions
Weak on heart-
I know I tell a lie
When I say you I love

Yet I rather commit that sin
Than to hide my love

O Mustafa.
Your love is my nature
Without it have I no future

Sallahu alaihi wa sallam

I envy the sand that met his feet

I’m jealous of honey he tasted sweet

Of birds that hovered above his head

Of spiders who spun their sacred web

To save him from his enemies

I envy clouds formed from the seas

That gave him cover from the heat

Of a sun whose light could not compete

With his, whose face did shine so bright

That all was clear in blinding night

I envy sightless trees that gazed

Upon his form completely dazed

Not knowing if the sun had risen

But felt themselves in unison

With those who prayed, and fasted too

Simply because he told them to

With truth and kindness, charity

From God who gave such clarity

His mercy comes in one He sent

To mold our hearts more heaven bent

I envy all there at his side

Who watched the turning of the tide

As truth prevailed and falsehood fled

And hope restored life to the dead

Men and Women through him found grace

To seek together God’s noble face

I envy the cup that gave him drink

His thoughts that helped us all to think

To be one thought that passed his mind

Inspiring him to act so kind

For me this world is not one jot

If I could simply be a thought

From him to God throughout the ages

As revelation came in stages

I pity all who think it odd

To hear him say there is one God

Or he was sent by God to men

To hone their spirits’ acumen

It’s pride that blinds us from the sight

That helps good men to see his light

He taught us all to be God’s slaves

And he will be the one who saves

Humanity from sinful pride

Muhammad has God on his side

So on this day be blessed and sing

For he was born to grace our Spring

With lilies, flowers, life’s rebirth
In a dome of green like his on earth

I Can't Explain You (Oh Messenger of God)
by Aaron Haroon Sellars 4/24/08

I could not write about you
For fear
Fear of your presence
And fear of
My hearts' brittleness
That I might die
In this pursuit
Yet wishing to die
In this state of intoxicated love
This is the conflict within me
Language cannot explain
Except the language
Of tears and laughter
Even the molecules
Of my body
Shake and tremble
With awe and excitement!

I just can't explain!
Oh Messenger of God!
I can't explain you!

Sometimes I forget
To say "Prophet" before your name
Not from heedlessness
But from desirous haste
To just say your name!
Muhammad, Muhammad, Muhammad!

I just can't explain!
Oh Messenger of God!
I can't explain you!

Oh the mystery of how
You have captured my heart
As a Christian
I loved the Prophets
Before you
But with you
I get them all!
I can love
Abraham, Moses and Jesus
Just by loving you!
Without this love
Your nation falls
With it
They are purified and irresistible!
Let those who
Possess this love
Not be stingy
Take it to the marketplace!
The workplace
And especially the home

It's hard to explain!
Oh Messenger of God!
I can't explain you!

Seeing the land of your life
Causes some to live
And seeing your grave
Causes some to die
Nothing is more difficult
Than you

In my youth
I have written easily
My love for many
But when I encountered you
The translator of my heart
Fell mute
Lost in inexplicable wonder!

That is hard to explain!
Oh Messenger of God!
I can't explain you!

You sacrificed for me
Before I was even born
How should I thank you
As I now walk upon the earth?
My heart holds your love
My tongue sends you blessings
But it is my limbs
That often fall short
All this controversy about you
A proof of the veil
On the hearts of your enemies
And a proof against those
Who only follow you with words
But don't turn your face from me
As I reach for a drink
From your soft hands

Because it's hard to explain!
Oh Messenger of God!
I can't explain you!

I heard one of my Teachers say that upon the poet is to write about the Messenger of God, may His peace and blessings be upon him. As a person who often writes things in a form that some call poetry, I have been haunted by the weight of this statement since hearing it!
I converted to the way of life called “Islam” because of an overwhelming sense of the divine origin and authority of the Quran and after a mere glimpse at the life of the Prophet Muhammad, may His peace and blessings be upon him.
So the feeling of love and debt is immense -yet every time I have tried to write something about him... I get stuck! I just sit there frozen with my pen hovering over a piece of paper that ultimately is left blank!
Then, one of my closest companions sent me a link to a YouTube video about the “Mahabbah Awards” which is a unique awards program done in the spirit of love for God and His Messenger.
Unexpectedly, this short and simple video clip opened a flash-flood of emotions and tears within me that I could not control or contain! I jumped up from my chair to try and regain my composure but felt a rumble inside like someone was boiling water in my chest! My knees started to buckle so I sat back down and felt a pressure in my head and heat in my heart that I knew from experience would lead to words!
“Finally!” I said to myself, I have a chance to say something about this amazing Messenger! I quickly grabbed my pen and an orange Post-it notes pad and started to scribble as fast as I could, the English translation of this stream of consciousness and love.
May the Giver of Gifts gift us with loving His beloved more than our own selves.

From the book, Ash-Shifa’ of Qadi ‘Iyad...
Anas said that a man came to the Prophet and asked, "When will the Last Hour come, Messenger of God?" He said, "What have you prepared for it?" He said, "I have not prepared a lot of prayer or fasting or charity for it, but I love God and His Messenger." The Prophet said, "You will be with the one you love." (al-Bukhari)

It is related that a woman said to A’isha (may Allah be pleased with her), “Show me the grave of the Messenger of God.” She showed it to her and the woman wept until she died.

My beloved (Prophet Muhammad)
by Anonymous

There was a time in my youth,
When Islam was only a custom.
They said "say La IIaha IIIa Allah,..
And pray, you'll go to Heaven."

Ah, how simple, no struggle in this,
Just a word, and simple act.
Thereafter I'm absorbed in this world again,
With my 'assured' place in Paradise intact.

But this was not to be my fate
For ALLAH chose to guide my heart.
I learnt of a man who struggled so hard
When his mission was from the start.

Spoke gently, kindness he knew.
Never fearing to say what's right,
His conviction in ISLAM was true.

The touch of his hand was as soft as silk
To comfort a crying child.
To mend his clothes, or do the chores,
Never complaining, he always smiled.

A living he made with his bare hands,
The same that held his mighty sword.
Valour shone from the edge of his blade,

His smell was always of musk,
And cleanliness he kept at his best.
Stark contrast with the heroes of today,
Who stink of beer and sweat.

He held the hands of his companions.
Unashamed to play with many children.
So modest, so humble, a perfect example,
That strangers could not recognise him.

His eyes slept little for nights were precious,
His prayers he treasured much greater.
To pray Tahajjud in the depths of night,
Seeking forgiveness, and nearness to his Creator.

He broke his tooth for me at Uhud,
And bled for me at Ta'if.
He cried for me, tears of concern,
Just so I could have this belief.

His enemies admired his teachings,
Uniting every religion, every clan.
Till ISLAM came to every corner of the world,
O, but indeed he was only a man.

To own a house, or build his wealth
Was not his main priority.
To establish ISLAM was more essential,
To bring us under a Higher Authority.

Don't you want him to plea for your case,
When before ALLAH-The Judge-you stand?
Don't you wish to be around his fountain,
A burning desire to drink from his hand?

So I love him more than all creation,
My Leader, my Humble Prophet.
Muhammad (SAWS) was a mercy to all mankind,
And to me, he is ... MY BELOVED!

A Poem on Prophet Muhammad (s.a.a.w.) by Allama Iqbal

He slept on a mat of rushes,
But the crown of Chosroes lay beneath the feet of his followers;
He chose the nightly solitude of Mount Hira,
And founded a nation, law and government;
He passed his nights with sleepless eyes,
That his Millet might sleep on Chosroes throne
In the hour of battle, iron was melted by the flash of his sword.
At prayer time, tears fell like drops of rain from his eyes.
In his prayer for Divine help, his Amen' was a sword,
Which extirpated the lineage of kings.
He inaugurated a new Order in the world,
He brought the empires old to an end:
In his sight the high and the low were one,
He sat with the slave at table one;
He burnt clear the distinctions of birth and clan.
His fire consumed all this trash and bran.

Hassan bin Thabit was born in Medina, which was then called Yathrib, seven or eight years before the birth of the Prophet. He came to be known most famously as the ‘Poet of the Prophet’ after his defense of the Prophet, the companions and the religion of Islam with his poems against the idolaters.

The following are a few verses from his poems of praise and glory for the Prophet:

"A glorious Prophet has come to us

after years without hopes and prophets

after years of worship on this world in idols.

He’s come and illuminated us like a light

that guides us into the right path and shines all so bright

Like the blazing, blinding glimmer of the sharp end of a sword

Against fire he warned,

And he gave good news of Heaven

He taught us Islam

For which we thank Allah

O the only God of People

You are my Lord and my Creator

to which I will bear witness

For as long as I live among people.’

Hassan b. Thabit praised the glory of the Prophet through many attributes like beauty, grace, pleasantness and good morals. The following two couplets by him stole people’s hearts for centuries and became everybody’s favorite:

"Talking of beauty, you are the one that comes to the mind

For there’s not been a single soul more pleasant than you are

You are cleansed of all imperfection

You are one of a kind in all creation

Muhammad (saws)

What a year was 570 AD

A person was born, a prophet to be

Muhammad (saws) that was his name

People were misguided and that's when he came

He would go on to leave all the idols behind

He is an example to all of mankind

Rabbi al Awwal the 12th, that was the day

He came to this world to show us the way

He was born in Mecca, the holiest place

A life full of challenges he was to face

Abdullah (ra) his father, had by then passed away

Leaving Amina (ra) his mother, in her arms he lay

Haalima Sadia, took over his care

Until he was six, our prophet was there

His mother then died, he was left all alone

Abdul Muttalib (ra) his grand-dad then made him his own

When our prophet was nine, his grandfather died

Abu Talib, his uncle, became his new guide

In his 20's,a merchant Muhammad (saws) became by trade

Al-Amin, (the trustworthy) became his grade

Hazrat Khadija (ra) aged 40, became his bride

He was 25, with her by his side

To the poor, she gave away all her wealth

A dedicated wife in sickness and health

360 idols in the Kaaba, they were at that time

Our prophet realized that this was a crime

He would go to mount Hira, leaving behind his wife

Reflecting and wondering about the meaning of life

Whilst thinking there in the midst of the night

He heard a loud voice which filled him with fright

It was the angel Gibrail (as) who asked him to read

Our prophet couldn't and didn't take heed

The angel embraced him and there asked him later

Read, Read in the name of the Creator

Who created man from a drop of blood

Our prophet couldn't read but at that time he could

Our prophet rushed to the path straight ahead

He heard a voice from the heavens which said

Muhammad (saws) truly you are the messenger of God

Muhammad (saws) was scared and thought this quite odd

'Praise be to God' his wife said instead

''I know you've been chosen as God's messenger' she said

And thus Khadija (ra) became the first woman of Islam

And over the next 23 years came the revelation, the Quran

He preached to all people, every creed every race

Yet so many hardships he had to face

There were fears for his life, then the Hijrat took place

He then entered Medina, all by Allah's grace

He was greeted by the Ansaris who gave their salaam

To him and his companions, the Sahaba ikram

Then came the battles, which were fought face to face

Then the conquest of Mecca, Muhammad (saws)'s birthplace

An Nasr was revealed, it's message was clear

Muhammad (saws) knew that his time was near

Everyone gathered to hear his last speech

little did they know how far Allah's message would reach

Muhammad (saws) gave us the miracle the Quran

And now a 1/4 of the world follow Islam

He is our role-model, the best of mankind

And has left the Quran and his Sunnah behind

Read the Quran as much as you can

The words of Allah (swt) for the guidance of man

And follow our prophet's sunnah, when eating and dressing

And send him salutations and many a blessing

He came to mankind to show us the way

And Insha-Allah, we'll meet him, we'll meet him one day

Poems and songs in praise of the Prophet Muhammad (s) like the following one from the Indian subcontinent:

O Prophet, peace be with you. O Messenger, peace be with you.
O Beloved One, God's peace be with you.
Pride of Adam, pride of Eve,
Pride of Noah and John,
Pride of Abraham and Moses,
Pride of Ismail and Jesus.
O Prophet, peace be with you. O Messenger, peace be with you.
O Beloved One, God's peace be with you.
Bearer of the crown of mercy,
King of both worlds,
Traveller to God's throne,
Vindicator of the sinners.
O Prophet, peace be with you. O Messenger, peace be with you.
O Beloved One, God's peace be with you ...

What If

What if I met the Prophet,
And walked the path he walked.
I would be his shadow, follow every step,
And never let him go.
.
What if I heard the Prophet,
Speaking to friend and foe.
I would write and learn his every word,
And spread them across the globe.
.
What if I spoke to the Prophet,
And shared with him my thoughts.
I would live by every word he said,
Applying them one by one.
.
What if I stood with the Prophet,
Fighting against his foes.
I would protect him against every (s)word and (ar)row,
Of the tongue and of the bow.
.
What if I saw the Prophet,
Embracing me with his smile,
I would feel its glow shining through my life,
And forever be my guide.
.
So why now do I leave you, oh Prophet,
When true dreams remain for those who love.
If truly I ever loved you so,
The heart will find what it seeks.
.
While the sayings of yours, oh Prophet,
Like gems amongst the words,
Remain to guide us along the path,
Mina al-dhulumaati ila al-noor[5].
.
And your legacy remains, oh Prophet,
With the scholars left on earth.
Inheritors of prophetic wisdom,
Preside to lead us forward.
.
We abandoned you for profit,
Chasing what the world can give,
Forgetting that joy is found with you,
In God’s everlasting bliss.
.
Now I return to you, oh Prophet,
In this blessed city of light,
To pledge a change forever more,
And turn my face to God.
.
Peace and blessings to you, oh Prophet,
For time and ever more.
To you we owe the greatest debt,
For all that you have brought.
..
And your family and friends, oh Prophet,
Who showed us how to live,
They sought your love in all they did
To earn the love of God
