I actually heard a vuvuzela for the first time yesterday and boy is that thing loud!!! bro

The atmosphere must be pretty amazing over there at the moment.

I remember a carnival atmosphere when Euro 96 was in England, but given this is a world cup, it's going to be even more amazing.

I hope your Bafana Bafana team do well. It's always nice to see the hosts progress at these tournaments.

Just finished watching the live match.  I love Mexico as a team but they say blood is thicker than water - me being an African and the cup being played on African soil for the first time!!!  Hence rooted for SA throughout. I almost thought we would make it - first win and all but we have a one point consolation at least!

Not really a football fan at all but I'm about to be on this one because children ...

I really wish that ppl dont forget Gaza and alike when watching games; We did see yesterday on tv a movie about Nelson Mandela and that made us feel a lot of pain.

I have been telling my son, six years old that is only a movie, they have been shoked by Sharpeville shootings; 50 years since 69 unarmed protestors were killed by South African police outside a police station in Sharpeville, south of Johannesburg...

On March 21, 1960, thousands of people gathered to protest the detested pass laws that forced all black South Africans to carry a pass book, or dompas (dumb pass). The book was a tool of the apartheid regime, which controlled the movement of black South Africans...

Today, England vs USA

with Slovenia, I expect them to have a particular hard time against Algeria  Wink

Slovenia vs Algeria Tomorrow!

Being Earthan African Arab Muslim, wonder Who Will I Be Supporting?

england are terrible!!!!!

i so so so so so so so wish that the USA would have thrashed England.  alas it was not to be..

personally, i will never ever support muslim countries teams again after the last? world cup where saudi arabia got thrashed 8-0 or something by germany.  muslim countries should first make sure there citizens can do basic things like read and write their own names and have access to basic healthcare before spending zillions on something in which they will get totally annihilated anyway.

Another tie for Africa - Ivory Coast vs Portugal.

Never thought North Korea could hold against Brazil. I was expecting them to be thrashed by Brazil like the Germans did to Australia.  Well, that is one of the many surprises of the World Cup.

So after these first few matches, anyone prepared to stick their neck out and predict who is going to win?  bro

BrKhalid, I will wait till the second round is over, though teams like Germany, Italy, Argentina, Brazil, Slovenia have a chance at it.  I would rather a country that has never won, win the cup this time round.

Another surprise of the cup is Switzerland beating Spain!!!

Chile beats Honduras. Both being away from the World Cup for ages.

Sis Shahida, I am crushed. Uruguay used to be a football powerhouse once upon a time.

Asalaamu Alaikum  bro

At the risk of enduring permanent ridicule, I actually think England may have a chance this time around!!

Very sad loss for South Africa, it will be difficult for them to get a result against France.

And who would have thought the Spaniards would lose to Switzerland Huh?

I was disappointed by how the English played against the US. I am an English fan. My 13 year old niece was rooting for USA while I did the same for England and I kept telling her that England will score another goal. And she kept saying not a chance. I have my doubts regarding England unless a miracle happens (which is possible).

So, another crushing defeat for Nigeria. Personally, I think Egypt should have been in the world cup. They are best African team currently. It is unfortunate that they didn't qualify.

Argentina did what was expected. It was of one those absolutely entertaining football matches that you watch to your heart's content.

I like both France and Mexico as teams but Mexico more. So, I am happy with how that ended.

Guys, the way things look now...i dunno, i suppose it's anyones game really... Wink

Man, we were crushed the other night...but the game must go on!

I would also like for the underdogs to win for a change.  It caused quite a stir when Switzerland scored against Spain..who would have thought?

My friend has been to all the games in our part of the country, hehe:)  she said that it is so noticeable how well the Brazilians played up live and close, compared to our bafana and other teams (technically speaking).  There is a certain beauty to how some players handle the ball...So yeah, we still have all the spirit, but its a very very slim chance we'll make it any further in the tournament. Sad

As far as England is concerned, I rest my case!

Algeria has done little to elevate Africa's chances. Ghana draw gives it 4 points. There is a little hope there.

Watching Cameroon vs Denmark. Sitting at the edge of my seat. Interesting game indeed. 1-1 as of now.

Cameroon eliminated! :'(

I agree, Sis Fozia. May be should have been there. We would certainly play better. Makes you wonder how most of these teams qualified in the first place, judging my their dismal performance so far - and I am not talking about Africa only.  I really miss Egypt - the African Champions.

Waiting for Africa to be eliminated so that I can truly support the teams that I like.  But not Brazil. I am tired of them winning the cup time and again.
