Assalam alaikom brothers and sisters.

I found this site on Islam and Spirituality:http://www.islamicspirituality.org/

It is lectures from Shaykh Kamaluddin Ahmed, the author of The Poor Man's Book of Assistance.

Enjoy Smiley

I believe in Islam like the sun rising, not because I see it but because by it, I see everything else.

Shaykh Kamaluddin is not the author of "The poor man's book of assistance". The author is "ninth century Moroccan scholar Sidi Ahmed Zarruq". This book was introduced at the 2000 Summer Rihla Program in southern Spain by Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, whose 16 CD lectures on the subject are freely downloadable at several sites, including: "www.ilookisee.co.uk/.../Hamza%20Yusuf%20-%20Poor%20Man's% 20Book%20of%20Assistance.htm", or purchasable from them.

Shaykh Kamaluddin Ahmed was born and raised in Manhattan (New York City). He studied Arabic & Islamic Civilization, Political Science, and Law at the University of Chicago, Columbia University, and the University of London. He then spent many years studying religious knowledge from traditional scholars in Pakistan, including tafsir of the Qur’an and narration and explanation of Hadith and completed the Dars-e-Nizami course at Jamia Ashrafia, Lahore receiving the Alimiyya degree.  He then pursued advanced studies in Islamic law and received formal authorization to transmit legal opinion (ifta) from Darul Ifta in Karachi.  For the past fifteen years, Shaykh Kamaluddin has consistently remained in the close company of Shaykh Zulfiqar Ahmad and was formally authorized by him in the science of Islamic spirituality (tasawwuf).

He is a relatively young man, and is quite appealing to the young generation. I have attended one of his lectures. I have yet to determine if his critic Dr Khalid Zaheer is correct about his narrow-mindedness to the Maulana Taqi Usmani's following.

Asalaamu Alaikum  bro

Just to clarify (or maybe confuse) matters further, there is also a book called 'The Book of Assistance' by Imam al Haddad.

Personally, for those interested in the topic (namely perfecting both inward and outward character), I would highly recommend both if you haven't already got these books / CDs.

Say: "O ye my servants who believe! Fear your Lord, good is (the reward) for those who do good in this world. Spacious is God's earth! those who patiently persevere will truly receive a reward without measure!" [39:10]
