Would LOVE to pray inside the kabah but I think only top royalty get that chance
NO WAY!!! That is awesome, ma'sha'allah.
Well,it was back in the early 80s when things were a bit lax because there wasn't such a heavy rush all the time.
My Dad's been in Saudi Arabia since 1976 and he's seen the country grow up from scratch.
It's not just top royalty who get the chance,a few foreign dignitaries and diplomats are also invited. The entourage is led by the Governor of Makkah and greeted into the Kaaba by the Banu Shaybah tribe which has been the official caretaker of the Kaaba ever since the Prophet(PBUH) himself handed over the keys to them.
He went to school in Madina and he goes every year to Hajj I think. Perhaps he has friends in high places now
I don't think he goes to Hajj every year, because these days, you can get a Hajj permit only once in five years.
But,if he has 'connections',maybe he does go every year.
Wow, I didn't know that Sis J - yeah, he MUST have some connections! Um, correct me those of you how have been or just know more history, but I was told/read that if you pray inside the area that is marked off adjacent to the Kaaba with the stones (which shows the original boundaries of the Kaaba) that it is as if you prayed inside it.
Yea bro, that semicircular area is called the Hateem.Legend has it that when Ibraheem(AS) built the Kaaba, the Hateem was part of it.But,during the Prophet's(PBUH) time it was the same like it is today. Some people also believe that Ismail(AS) and Hajera(AS) are buried in the Hateem.
Abdullah Ibn Al-Zubayr who ruled Makkah for many years between the death of Ali(RA) and the consolidation of Ummayad power, is said to have demolished the old Kaaba and rebuilt it to include the Hateem.
This structure was damaged during the war between Al-Zubayr and Ummayad forces commanded by Al-Hajjaj Ibn Yousef.I think a decade later, when the Ummayads had gained control over Makkah,Abd Al Malik Ibn Marwan completely demolished Al-Zubayr's Kaaba and rebuilt it on the foundations laid by the Quraysh in the same cubic shape that it had during the Prophet's(PBUH) time.
Sometime during the 900s,the Qarmatians had stolen the Hajar Aswad(the black stone) and took it away to Eastern Arabia, but then it was brought back by the Abbasids a few decades later.
Since then, apart from minor repair work, the Kaaba hasn't been tampered with.
So,yea,if you pray inside the Hateem,it is considered equivalent to praying inside the Kaaba.
