Salam
Are the actions of children Written? Children as in before puberty. I know that one is judged starting from puberty. Why do I find myself worrying & having anxiety over some of my actions as a young child? Its bothering me very much. I find myself making myself feel guilty for those actions.

So.....am I accountable for those actions at that time or are they non-existent because it was before puberty? & were those actions Written?

Thank you, Salam

wsalam,

Actions of children before puberty are not written or accountable. So no worries inshaAllah. But I think it's definitely an important time for discipline and training your kids so that once they hit puberty they are good kids right!!

One isn't accountable as a child and what one does as a child isn't recorded in one's book of deeds.  This is as what the Prophet (peace be upon him) said in a hadith related by Abu Dawuud, which means: “The pen has been lifted from [writing the deeds of] three: the one who is asleep until awakening, the young child until becoming pubescent, and the crazy person until becoming sane.”

Hope that helps.

Take care.

'If he woke up and had enough food for the day and shelter (a roof over his head) and he does not fear for his safety, then it is as if he has been given the dunya.'

Asalaamu Alaikum bro

In addition to the above, it is generally believed that the bad deeds of young children will not be written but their good deeds *will* be recorded.

Hence, for example, if children pray before they reach the age of maturity, they will receive a reward for those prayers and parents will share in some of that reward for having guided them towards a good action.

Say: "O ye my servants who believe! Fear your Lord, good is (the reward) for those who do good in this world. Spacious is God's earth! those who patiently persevere will truly receive a reward without measure!" [39:10]
