I've been asked to write a column about faith in predestination and why muslims are required to believe in it. This is what I came up with. Suggestions and comments please.

Every Muslim is required to believe in Al Qadr, whether good or bad. It is tantamount to believing in Allah's Knowledge, His Will and His Ability. According to Ibn Taymiyyah, Al Qadr is comprised of two degrees and each degree has two things in it. The first degree tell us that we are to believe that Allah knows what, where and when his creation will do. He knows everything that the creation will do with regards to obedience, transgression, its life span and sustenance. And Allah has recorded the measurements of matters pertaining to creation in the Lawh Al Mahfudh and no person will get what is not written in it nor will he be deprived of that which is written in it. The second degree is the belief in Allah's Will and His Ability. It is the belief that whatever happens, happens only with His Will and permission and there is nothing that happens without those two prerequisites. It is the belief that whatever there is in the heavens or on the earth is created only by Him and that there is no creator but Him. It is by His order that His servants obey Him and refrain from disobeying Him. It is the belief that He is pleased with those who fall in front of Him in obedience and that He is displeased with those that do not. It is the belief that He does not order His creation to commit evil deeds. Allah created all creation and they possess the ability to act in accordance with their will but it is Allah who created their abilities and wills. Nonetheless, the categorisation of Al Qadr into good and bad is only related to the creation and not to Allah for He is all good and there is no evil that belongs to him.

I think it's pretty short. Or did you have a word limit?
