Both of these Islamic movies are my favorites. Both directed by Moustappha Akkad (A Muslim  madinaflag)

Lion Of The Desert (film about Omar Al Mukhtar) almost made me cry  :'( It is so inspiring.

The Message (film about Muhammad SAW and the story of Islam) MADE ME HAPPIER THAN EVER TO BE A MUSLIM!!!!!!!!  Grin

Both movies are starred by Anthony Quinn, a Mexican Actor who died in 2001. Surprisingly he played Muslim characters but didn't actually convert?? He played Hamza (Lion Of Allah and uncle of Muhammad). In the movie Lion Of The Desert, he played Omar Mukhtar brilliantly but unfortunately in both films his character is killed. Angry

ANYWAY IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THEM I SUGGEST YOU DO RIGHT AWAY. IT GIVES YOU KNOWLEDGE OF YOUR HISTORY.  oldshaykh

Very interesting (and long) article about how the movie The Message came about, it's history and about the crazyness surrounding it's release and where it is today!  http://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2012/11/the-message-the-movie-about-islam-that-sparked-a-hostage-crisis-in-dc/264939/

LOVE both these films so much!

@SlaveofAllah: He had enough respect for the figures of Hz. Hamza and Omar Mukhtar - I respect him for that, but not surprised he didn't convert  - he did his job in protraying them - I'm sure he appreciated them for what they did for their respective causes. I don't think we should be "omg, he didn't convert??!" when non-Muslims are exposed to Muslim ideas or figures, etc. Yes, it would be awesome of course, but it doesn't take away from what he did as an actor and human being in terms of those films.

Thanks for the article Sis J!
