Well, those of you who know me, no surprise why I'm posting this - it's called "Aiyyaa" (you'll see why after you watch). She's got 3 dance numbers (what they call "lavani") or what others might call item numbers. It centers around her marriage (a theme here on the Madina lately, so another reason I was moved to post this haha) prospects after an ad is put in the paper for her and the hijinks around it. Coming out Oct. 12. Not sure I'll be able to catch it, since I'm in a small market city, but nonetheless, excited!!!

Let me know what you guys think!

Since Jannah isn't here and has her mind now preoccupied by the opposite sex...and so is too busy to beat up folks like me...i think i'll ask a cheeky question.

why does anybody watch hindi films?

aren't they more tittlating/vulgar than an R rated movie?

am i missing something?

salam,

yeah thanks i'm here??

i watched an indian movie on the plane "aik main or aik tu" or something like that??  it was a cute little romance. Nothing too bad in it at all.

to answer your question it really depends on the indian movie, but most are more wholesome and romantic than hollywood movies and are also based on desi culture; thus ppl like them!

ps baba that trailer is hilarious!

that trailer is funny I may go see that film....but october is far away and my attention span is not that great so I may not be interested then!

And when My servants question thee concerning Me, then surely I am nigh. I answer the prayer of the suppliant when he crieth unto Me. So let them hear My call and let them trust in Me, in order that they may be led aright. Surah 2  Verse 186

Well, Ran won't do those "R" movies, but a recent sequel of a film of a few years ago did feature a real life porn star as the female lead.

Thanks Sis J, but I'll be sticking it out a few more years me thinks. I am cool with it. Not to be overly mushy, but you in part, have inspired me, patience is definitely worth it from what I can tell.  Smiley

Yeah I agree, Hindi films have lost their true value for the most part. Only a few films every couple of years that are tasteful - one such was Parineeta, even the "love scene" was tasteful and classy.

But yeah, even one of my best friends in med school, who was Angolan, loves old movies, like from our parents era, which I do as well. In fact, have several DVDs from my Amma's era that I enjoy watching over and over. One includes one about a doctor, his love story and how a life event changes his attitude towards others and how he practices medicine. Actress is sweet, no need for make-up really, and more full-figured and modestly dressed too, like Indian women are famous for...pity they are all stick thin these days.

They are not necessarily practicing Muslims (of course, can't say for sure)....they may have Muslim names and Muslim parents (who were likely somewhat more practicing, but even they were in the business as well), but that is about as far as it goes. I've met Salman Khan. He did something really nice for a cousin-sister of mine for her wedding years ago, though he gets a bad rap and of course he has made mistakes (who doesn't?) and it's a business, so religion doesn't really come into play or is not as important, at least not out in the open. I mean, Shah Rukh Khan married a Hindu against his family's wishes for starters.

In case any cares, the movie was absolute CRAP! the only good part was the belly-dancing (thought the song is crappy too, in terms of the auto-tuning).

Anyways, she has another film out that is better, though I havent' seen it - it stars Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor.

Here is the trailer for the second film, Talaash - there is a big twist and Aamir even sent out a message for people not to tell their friends - my mom saw it back home and figured out the twist/mystery before it happened - typical of my mom haha.

Talaash - Trailer starring Aamir Khan, Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor

The only good one I've seen recently was the mystery Kahaani because Vidya was in it and she's a pretty amazing actress! Maybe I'll see Talaash on the next plane ride. Aamir's films are always thinking/moral ones...

Yeah Kahaani was brilliant! Yes, she is a great actress - her first film was wonderful and though despite some mistakes in terms of her outfits, she has "it" She just got married by the way. Smiley
