Salam!

I thought that this would be nice to see - describe what you think the qualities of an Islamic country would be! This can be anything - family, economics, values, whatever you like!

I think that an ideal Islamic country would be one that rejected modern, failed methods of development, and focused on sustainable, Islamic lifestyles instead, preserving communities, history, and culture, using environmentally friendly fuel-sources, and due to the lack of materialism in the country, there would be no need for loads and loads of fuel and resources anyway, because where would be no mass-chain stores based on unfair labor providing oodles of cheap stuff.

I think that an ideal Islamic country would be very creative!

I will add that an ideal islamic country would have a sincere administration.
There would be no corruption, bribery and favoritism.
And there would be no show off and extravagance in one's expenditure.

There would be greenery around and plenty of tress and naturally grown fruits and grain...

Oh looks like I am imagining jannah here..... Tongue

An Ideal Islamic country would be that which is based on Justice.

Leaders chosen Justly and exercise their duties Justly.

Every citizen feels obligated to be Just to others irrespective of race, religion, gender, ancestry, ...

Every creature, domesticated or undomesticated treated Justly.

It would be where JUSTICE and only JUSTICE decides!

My ideal Islamic country would be one where every citizen is a muslim, where knowledge is doled out in every nook and cranny, where people actively seek and act upon knowledge, where the country is run entirely on Islamic principles, where money, status and race don't matter, where extravagance is unheard of, where there is no need for a justice department to exist and where people love each other for the sake of Allah.

Even in an ideal Islamic society a justice department needs to exist to clarify differences.

Altho I guess with your description everyone would be self police.

And when My servants question thee concerning Me, then surely I am nigh. I answer the prayer of the suppliant when he crieth unto Me. So let them hear My call and let them trust in Me, in order that they may be led aright. Surah 2  Verse 186

I meant, since it's an 'ideal' islamic state, differences shouldn't arise in the first place. Wink

If you like you can talk about a non-ideal world too - like, if you had to run a country, how would it go?

I think that an ideal Muslim country would be dynamic, not held back by the sluggishness in our societies now (which is both a reaction to corruption, and to a fear of the 'outside').

One in which the Rights of Muslim women are practiced without excuses or rhetoric.

The Almighty Allah says,

"When a servant thinks of Me, I am near.
When he invokes Me, I am with him.
If he reflects on Me in secret, I reply in secret,
And if he acknowledges Me in an assembly,
I acknowledge him in a far superior assembly."

but if there is one, I'd like to see

1.  religious minorities rights protected

2. free speech guaranteed by constitution

3. free and clean elections every 4-5 years

4. zakat payments enforced on the rich

5. free and independent judiciary

6. libraries and literary societies everywhere!!
