AA!

I am helping a researcher at the local hospital figure out what specific needs that they can attempt to meet in order to help Muslim women have a more positive experience during pregnancy, birth and post natal care at the hospital.

Any suggestions, beside the obvious? Ex. preference for a female Dr., least amount of physical exposure to the least # of people, cut out genitalia shots from birth film at prenatal class.

Walaikumassalaam,

It would all depend upon the location of your study.
Back home in India, from where I am,Muslim women do have a fairly positive experience considering they have all female doctors to consult and they infact almost have no access to any elaborate pictorial birth films at prenatal class.(infact many don't even take prenatal classes :-P )
They ofcourse consult the doctor for the required pre natal checkups and equip themselves to all essential information that will help during the peri and post natal period. Also, many do have a strong family support during the pregnancy and post natal period to cope with new responsibilities and stress of child birth.

Hope this helps.
