Assalamu alaikum!

There's been a bad atmosphere and some bad stuff happening on campus recently - it feels unwholesome, particularly in my dormitory.

Does anyone know if there's a specific dua or ruqya to read to 'cleanse the air' of whatever evil is lurking around?

You can listen to Ruqya verses recited on youtube.

Also keep clean observe your fard prayers.

May Allah keep you safe from jealousy, and the evil eye and opression and black magic and the fear of it.

And when My servants question thee concerning Me, then surely I am nigh. I answer the prayer of the suppliant when he crieth unto Me. So let them hear My call and let them trust in Me, in order that they may be led aright. Surah 2  Verse 186

How does one 'cleanse the air'?

Before going to sleep recite surah ikhlas, falaq and naas, blow over your hands and wipe them over your body, thrice. Also, recite ayatul kursi.

As part of his evening dhikr, Rasulallah(S) used to say "a'udhu bi kalimaatillahi taammah, min sharri ma khalaq" thrice and "bismillah al ladhee la yadduru ma'asmihi shay'un fil ardi wa la fissamaa'i wa huwa-assamee' al-'aleem" thrice, both in the morning and evening.

It's better to make a habit of these things to keep you protected at all times, not just when it seems like there is something bad going on.

Hope this helps.

'Cleanse the air' is just an expression for clearing things up.
